Our Mission

Because it owned property, the Keene Valley Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club incorporated in 1952 and for years was one of only two ADK Chapters to be separately incorporated. Due to a recent change in ADK’s by-laws, we are in the process of relinquishing our incorporated status with the main club assuming ownership of the Chapter’s property. We are assured that the Keene Valley Chapter will retain full control over the use of the lean-to on that property. Despite this change in status, our Charter remains the same and reminds us of our purpose:

"To encourage out-door life generally...particularly that form...connected with mountain-climbing, hiking, wood-lore, skiing, canoeing, tramping, trail-marking, camping, and other kindred activities.

"To promote and encourage, by all lawful means, the cause of true conservation of the natural resources of the State of New York, and particularly those in the mountain regions...including...the Adirondack region..."
